REGENalloy™ is a resilient metallic glass alloy that can be applied to self-tapping screws for anchoring in bone and for orthopaedic fixation wire and pins. Unlike other biodegradable fixation implants (typically softer polymers), REGENalloy has good isotropic stiffness and strength that is important when it comes to screwing (tapping) into bone, pinning and anchoring.
Plates and rods made from REGENalloy™ can stabilize fractures and bone defects with good assurance before gradually resorbing to help speed bone repair and avoid stress shielding.
A key area of interest for bioresorbing implants globally is for cardiovascular stents. Support of smooth muscle regeneration is a strategic opportunity for REGENalloy™
.
Proof of concept has been obtained for using REGENalloy™ on renegerative tissue scaffolds for modulating therapeutic delivery and illiciting an inherent antibacterial activity.
REGENalloy™ is highly electrically conductive, temperature conductive, mechanically resilient, radioopaque, predictable reactivity and has potential to be used for specialized biodegradable implantable devices, systems, or sensors.
